Headingley Sport Shop is looking for a Service Writer. The successful candidate will have strong communication skills with great attention to detail. They will play a key role in the dealership: managing customer relationships and facilitating repair and maintenance services for Motorcycles, ATVs, Side by Sides and Snowmobiles.
Job Title: Service Writer – Powersports
Key Responsibilities:
1. Customer Interaction:
– Greet customers and determine their needs related to vehicle service or repair.
– Answer customer inquiries via phone, text, email, or in-person.
– Provide estimates on services and repairs.
– Educate customers on service options and available upgrades or accessories.
2. Service Coordination:
– Schedule appointments for vehicle service and repairs.
– Open and manage work orders, ensuring accurate information about services and customer needs.
– Communicate with service technicians to ensure proper diagnosis and timely completion of tasks.
– Follow up with customers to confirm service completion and customer satisfaction.
3. Documentation & Sales:
– Maintain detailed records of service history, customer preferences, and payment details.
– Process payments, including billing and invoicing.
– Promote additional services, warranties, or parts to customers based on their needs and budget.
4. Quality Control:
– Ensure that all service requests and repairs are carried out with the highest level of quality and in a timely manner.
– Inspect completed work orders to ensure customer satisfaction and safety.
5. Team Collaboration:
– Work closely with the service, sales and parts departments to ensure smooth operation.
– Communicate effectively with technicians, ensuring that customer requirements are clearly understood and executed.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
– Experience: Previous experience as a service writer, advisor, or in a customer-facing role.
– Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication to interact with customers, technicians, and other departments.
– Customer Service: Excellent interpersonal skills, a friendly demeanor, and a problem-solving attitude.
– Technical Knowledge: Understanding of powersports vehicles and repair processes is a plus, or willingness to learn.
– Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize, and meet deadlines.
– Computer Skills: Proficiency in service management software, MS Office, and general office equipment.
Preferred Qualifications:
– Experience in powersports or automotive repair industries.
– Motorcycle License
– Familiarity with parts and accessories used in powersports vehicles.
– Knowledge of warranty programs and insurance claims processing.
**Physical Requirements:
– Ability to work in a fast-paced, sometimes noisy environment.
– Ability to sit, stand, and communicate with customers for extended periods.
– Ability to move product.
This job offers a mix of office and customer service work with occasional interaction with the service floor. The service writer is often the bridge between the customer and the technical team, ensuring satisfaction on both ends.
